    Job Title:  Program Manager

    Job Location: Washington DC

    Security Clearance:  Clearable

    Responsibilities

    Africa Center for Strategic Studies (ACSS) supports U.S. foreign and security policies by strengthening the strategic capacity of African states to identify and resolve security challenges in ways that promote civil-military cooperation, respect for democratic values, and safeguarding human rights. The ACSS engages African partner states and institutions through rigorous academic and outreach programs that build strategic capacity and foster long-term, collaborative relationships.

     

    • Manage four administrative and logistics personnel
    • Report contract labor to the U.S. Government
    • Write monthly status report
    • Oversee travel arrangements
    • Arrange and manage CONUS and OCONUS events with African partner nations
    • Build long- and short-range schedules to ensure full coverage of all instructor, evaluator, support personnel, and supervisor positions using Graduate Training Integration Management System (GTIMS) or future equivalent systems and locally-developed computer database systems as required. 
    • Oversee public affairs function
    • Source interpreter services 
    • Source technical subject matter experts and guest speakers, panelists, and adjunct faculty
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Qualifications

     

    • BS Degree in International Studies, Public Affairs, Education or related fields
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in event organization 
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in working with Africa-related issues 
    • Experience in working with Department of Defense 
    • Supervisory experience 
    • Must have experience in scheduling, working with senior leaders, event planning, time-keeping, and project management 
    • Working proficiency in French                                                                    

                                                                   

    Desired Qualifications:

    • MS Degree preferred
